New bubble tea shop in Nest to be named “P.H. Tea”

The Ubyssey had the pleasure of digging deep creatively and recognizing these gems, but the contest to name the new bubble tea shop — a.k.a. the #NameMyBBT contest — in the Nest is finally over.

With more than 500 submission and 1,500 votes, the grand prize winner is Chris Yu for the name “P.H. Tea.” Since Yu is one of the staff behind the AMS contest, the top prize of a month's worth of free bubble tea was passed onto the second-place entry. The placements and prizes are as follow:

  • Grand prize winner: Chris Yu for “P.H. Tea,” a drink named after him
  • First place: Jm Jamet for “Tea Bird,” month free of bubble tea
  • Second place: Gul Khurana for “Tea Bird” as well, $25 gift card
  • Third place: Amori Yee Mikami for “Tea Rex,” $25 gift card

In case you're as confused as I was, the listed first-place winner is effectively really the second-place runner up, making second place actually third place and third place really fourth place.

You also might be wondering why there are two finalists with the same submission. Well, the original contest rules state that of popular names with multiple submissions, two are randomly drawn. Now you know.

Congratulation to Chris Yu. We look forward to what you'll name your signature drink and how delicious it will be.
