UBC Film Society screening two original short films tonight

Take a break from studying for exams and get hyped for the screening event of the century.

The UBC Film Society is proudly debuting two short films that they produced this year tonight at 6 p.m. at the Norm Theatre in the old SUB.

Ashlee Cantonio’s “Nintendo” premiers first, followed by Jake Nesbit, Sara Trapara and Eloane Venkatapen’s “Angel Valentino.” After the shorts are given their worldwide debut, a film will be selected and shown from the Videomatica collection

There is currently a poll on the Film Society’s Facebook event page to decide which lucky film will follow the two original shorts. Right now, it looks like Lost in Translation is winning, followed closely by a second-place Blazing Saddles — if you want to weigh in on the matter, be sure cast your vote.

Hooked on fine film already? Good news — membership is only $5 for a whole year of unlimited movies. If you get lost on your way to the Norm Theatre, follow the scent of freshly popped popcorn wafting up from the concession.
