Tova was the Ubyssey Science editor in 2023/24. They graduated from UBC in 2024 with degrees in environmental geography and history. They report on everything from environmental governance to how access to the arts and to information supports community wellbeing. In the produce aisle of the grocery store, labels tell you where vegetables traveled from: oranges from California, grapes from Chile, beets from BC. But where did the seeds come from?

Under Saskatchewan skies thick with wildfire smoke in July, a bright blue UBC Forestry truck blaring country music headed west. While particles of burned forests clouded the sun, the researchers behind the wheel set out to understand how to help forests regenerate after the flames cool.
