Iman was The Ubyssey’s 2024/25 editor-in-chief, 2023/24 features editor and 2022/23 opinion + blog editor. She was a finalist for the Canadian University Press's 2023 Feature Writing Award for reporting on UBC's sexual misconduct policy, and she received the Canadian University Press's 2025 Community Service Reporting Award for covering UBC's Palestinian solidarity encampment. Halfway through his term, VP Academic and University Affairs (AUA) Kamil Kanji has made progress on many of his goals on affordability, open educational resources and mental health and harm reduction, but still has some left unchecked.

Though my mom would hold my eyebrow skin taught, when I looked in the mirror, I’d smile at myself. Not because I thought I looked better — or fundamentally different, even — but because I felt better. I felt like an adult. I felt like a woman. And I felt brown.

But seriously, the classic film that every film bro should study instead of Fight Club or The Godfather or whatever, is Pitch Perfect. It teaches you how to make friends in university.
