The Bobcats, despite a woeful 6-9 conference record and being 10 points behind the ’Birds, defeated UBC 1-3 on Friday and 0-3 on Saturday. On Friday night, the Thunderbirds lost in four sets with set scores at 25-16, 15-25, 25-27 and 22-25.

Women’s volleyball team took on the McEwan University Griffins this weekend on Friday and Saturday, beating them in both games to maintain their position in the Canada West conference and tying at second with sister school UBC Okanagan.

Lacrosse

The UBC Thunderbirds' Lacrosse Sport Club has come a long way since its inception in the fall of 2012. What started with a couple of friends, three-foot long lacrosse sticks and a ball tossed around Totem Park Residence now has 25 players on its roster and is one of nine clubs selected to kick off the UBC Athletics' new athletic stream — the competitive club.

Volleyball

This weekend at the War Memorial Gym, the UBC Women’s Volleyball team defeated the University of Calgary Dinos in two, four-set games 3-1 on both Friday and Saturday.

Wright Field was the scene of two entertaining matches as the Thunderbirds went head-to-head against the University of Calgary Dinos for their final regular games of the season. The ‘Birds blew past the last placed Dinos, with 4-0 win on Saturday and 5-3 win on Sunday.

Last year, the UBC Quidditch team finally achieved a goal that it had been gunning for since its inception in 2010. They made it to the Quidditch World Cup in South Carolina. With a third position in the Northwest division, and ranked number 1 in their region, the team snagged a spot amongst 80 teams — beating a sizeable amount of American teams for it— and went on to represent UBC, and the rest of Canada, for the first time at the World Cup.

This past weekend, the UBC Thunderbird’s team defeated both the University of Regina Cougars and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies on David Sidoo field. They left the Cougars out in the cold with a 3-0 shutout, and then battled to get a 4-0 win over the huskies
