PSA: UBC cancels in-person classes for second day due to snow

While campus will remain open, all in-person learning activities have been cancelled for tomorrow, February 4.

The university’s announcement advises that students who do not yet know the status of their classes should wait for communications from their instructors. Like yesterday, classes may move online or coursework may be provided asynchronously.

Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement at 5 p.m. earlier today, cautioning about the accumulation of “varying amounts of snow during [this evening's] commute through tomorrow afternoon across Metro Vancouver.”

“There is a higher likelihood of snow accumulation for areas near the water early tomorrow morning, which could disrupt the morning commute. If confidence grows in significant snowfall tomorrow morning, a warning will be issued.”

TransLink provides updates about service disruptions online and currently recommends essential-only travel.
