UBC cancels all in-person classes actives for January 18

UBC cancelled all in-person learning activities for January 18, due to the forecasted weather, with more snowfall forecasted across the Lower Mainland.

Instructors are responsible for notifying students of any alternative arrangement or cancellation of their classes tomorrow. This includes whether classes will be moved online or if there will be an asynchronous option provided.

This is the second day in a row that UBC has cancelled in-person activities due to snowfall.

A TransLink advisory noted delays and cancellations to buses and trains are expected and recommended passengers only use the service for essential travel.

The announcement noted that the campus is not closed and “employees who perform necessary work are expected to come to work.”

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
