Kathleen Simpson won the position of AMS VP External amid cheers and frenzied shouting in the Pit.
“I’m just so overwhelmed — I’m just grateful that my team is so awesome,” said Simpson.
Throughout her campaign, Simpson emphasized her focus on long-term goals such as post-secondary affordability and provincially-mandated sexual assault policy for universities.
As more candidate results were announced, Simpson replied that she had no idea what she was going to do next.
“Right now? I haven’t even thought about it,” said Simpson. Working under Jude Crasta as associate vice-president external for the last year, Simpson has a lot of experience for her new position.
What was her favourite moment from the campaign?
“Honestly, classroom announcements were really scary for me at first. And doing my last one, and not being nervous was really great for me.”
