Holmes, Yee reelected to the Board of Governors

Max Holmes and Georgia Yee have been reelected to UBC’s Board of Governors (BoG).

Holmes and Yee beat out Tate Kaufman, a newcomer to the BoG who also lost his bids for Senate and AMS president, for the two UBC Vancouver student seats on UBC’s highest governing body.

Holmes campaigned on his track record of success in advocating for student priorities, and his desire to work on Campus Vision 2050 to update UBC’s planning documents. Yee campaigned on an ambitious platform, but honed in on her desire to continue work on the creation of a Disability Task Force to support disabled students on campus.

Yee and Holmes both clashed with Kaufman at debates over freedom of expression and potential conflict of interest around his run for AMS president.

This will be Holmes’s fourth year, and Yee’s second year on the Board. Holmes said it will be his last.

“I’m not going to be held back this year. I’m looking forward to it. Let’s get shit done,” Holmes said.

Yee was also reelected to the UBC Vancouver Senate as a student senator-at-large.

“I’m so elated that these students at UBC have elected me to be their next Board representative. I’m so excited to get to work,” Yee said.
