Located underneath a new field that will be built between War Memorial gym and the Nest, the lot would be made up of parking spots for short term visitors, as well as electric vehicle charging stations and new spaces for the cars used by Safewalk.
“If someone is in an emergency they’re sent to the hospital the same day, or if they’re extremely urgent they’re sent to the access and assessment centre for care within two to five days,” said Dr. Nelson, director of UBC Student Health Services.
While travelling can impact performance, the degree of impact it can have depends on multiple variables such as the timing of the trip during the academic semester, competitions during the trip and the physical distance travelled to competitions.
“The 480 duplicates other more efficient routes between Richmond and UBC, and has seen declining ridership in recent years,” wrote Jill Drews, a Translink media relations advisor, in an email to The Ubyssey.
At the end of April, the government of Ontario announced that, starting in 2018, people under the age of 25 living in the province will get free prescription drugs. The plan will cover 4,400 types of drugs, and will have no deductible or co-payment.
After modelling 10 different scenarios with three sub scenarios each based on information made public by BC Hydro, the researchers concluded that Site C was not economically past the point of no return.
Three candidates for the Vancouver-Point Grey riding came to the Nest Thursday evening for a debate focused on student issues. The Ubyssey moderated the debate and has since checked the veracity of some of the candidates' claims.
“So by allowing the associate VP finance to take on more of that responsibility by taking off [the financial systems] off their plate, it will allow the new AVP to really focus on developing those financial assistance programs.”
The 2017 federal budget, released on March 22, contains a large section on what will be done to address housing issues in Canada. The Ubyssey is delving into how this section of the budget and others will affect housing in Vancouver.
Notices have been posted at the 52 building complexes at UBC’s Vancouver campus using a certain type of heat exchanger, advising building users to not consume any of the hot water. This followed the discovery that five heat exchangers had failed.
The diversity fund that was launched last November is being used to finance the review process that will make recommendations about the fund’s future designation. The $300,000 put into the fund this year will support the review process.
“Going into it, it’s our every intention to support Sprouts and to uphold the mandate of their club, but ... we did ultimately say that it’s the AMS’s space and that we can do with it as we please,” said Scott.
In an unsurprising result, Alim Lakhiyalov was voted in as the next VP Finance of the AMS. Lakhiyalov ran unopposed after the other candidate dropped out of the race before the first debate, but ran a strong campaign.

Lakhiyalov is campaigning on a platform that includes creating a long-term sustainable financial plan, implementing professional development programs, and integrating financial systems and expanding their usage to all clubs and constituencies.
