Elif started writing for The Ubyssey in late 2020, trying to find a hobby while working from home. Ever since, she's fallen in love with both the community and reporting. Although she loves writing about anything and everything, student governance and social justice have a special place in her heart. When she's not in the office, you can find her studying political science and economics, watching a movie or trying out craft beers. Born and raised in Istanbul, Elif's always open to getting recommendations for cool bars and coffee shops in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Writers Fest returns for the 29th time to bring readers and writers together to talk, think and explore the world of literature. The festival starts on October 17 and lasts for a week, closing on October 23.
