We’ve all had to deal with a shitty midterm mark. It can trigger a lot of “I’m not good enough” thinking, and be a huge blow to your self esteem. So here are some steps that might help you regain your confidence after receiving a crappy grade.

10/10 the scariest thing right now: Donald Trump. Before you dismiss the idea, think about it — all you need is a really bad wig, a really bad suit, a really bad Trump impersonation and a terrible idea for the future of America! It’s like super easy!

If you have a really, really nice Ferrari, it’s all the more painful to see it covered up in scratches. Because UBC is one of those Ferraris. So why do I feel so uninspired by those three letters when they’re on my white t-shirt?

Time. Time is the only way to get over a relationship. Sure you can try to cut corners here and there, but it's not until time has past and you've processed everything accordingly does anyone truly move on from a relationship.

But as long as we believe that sustainability is something abstract that happens in a set of policies disconnected from our personal and collective actions, we will not be able to bring on the changes that are necessary.

Look, I’m not about to go out and say that UBC is lacking. I’m just saying we don’t have something Harvard, Stanford and Columbia all have. I know it’s been on your mind, so I’ll say what you’re already thinking — a kink club.

One of the biggest worries I had leaving for this exchange was regarding the type of people I’d meet here. Besides one other UBC student whom I had only met once prior to leaving, I knew not a single soul living in Cape Town.
