Sports Videographer Not Accepting Applications
Our Sports Video Journalists will adapt stories from the section alongside its reporters into vertical and horizontal videos, with focus on UBC’s Thunderbirds teams throughout the season. All equipment and editing software is provided by The Ubyssey.
Over the next year, Sports Videographers can expect to attend and film Thunderbirds games; film reporter’s post-game analyses; edit their own work; collaborate on larger projects, such as player profiles and extended reports; and utilize cameras, mics, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
No prior experience in journalism is required. Ongoing training and training materials will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Producing one to two videos a week, working on firm deadlines
- Practicing thoughtful journalism to the highest standards of ethics
- Developing relationships with sources to inform reporting
- Attending weekly meetings
- Being professional and responsive to editors, peers, and sources
- Staying expertly informed on matters concerning your beat
