Games

The Games Designer will lead the Games Department and design games for The Ubyssey’s print issues and website. Reporting to the Assistant Managing Editor, Product, and the Senior Masthead, they will facilitate daily crosswords and other original games on our website. They will be expected to create puzzles themselves, but will also hire and oversee a team of staff dedicated to producing games.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the meetings applicable to their position
• Liaising with the Senior Systems Developer for technical support
• Liaising with the Senior Editorial Designer, Digital and Assistant Managing Editor, Product to design the games interface
• Designing at least one crossword puzzle per week
• Managing the administration of crossword creators
• Ensuring staff-made crosswords are up to our standards of quality
• Leading the creation and implementation of two original Ubyssey digital games
• Supporting recruitment and evaluating applications for their department
• Running weekly department meetings
• Training staff
• Regularly reading news generally
• Staying up-to-date with developments in their discipline

This is a paid, masthead-level position.
