Free speech groups use UBC’s academic freedom statement to defend speakers despite growing concerns they could incite harm on campus.

The AMS passed its Sustainable Action Plan after a year of work, but the Indigenous Coordination section was notably missing.

The conference kicked off with a workshop led by Dora Kamau, a psychiatric nurse and meditation guide. Kamau, whose parents are Kenyan and Ghanaian, developed the workshop ‘Protect Your Crown’ to discuss the “mental illness and mental health of the African diaspora and the stigma that pervades [their] communities.”

The MSA's goal with the daily lectures during the week of January 20 to 24 was to foster a community that has a better understanding of Muslims and Islam in general.
