Now, students can be reimbursed for up to $1,500 in mental health care per year, which includes services such as psychiatry, counselling and psychology.
Separate from the university’s mandatory testing, the study was led by the Centre for Health Services and Policy Research Professor Sabrina Wong.
The pilot program — which started in September — offers these students a chance to connect with fellow IBPOC students, or Wellness Mentors, and have conversations about shared experiences and ideas.
