Currently, Corrigall-Brown teaches a large introductory class as well as a smaller upper-level class this semester, a division made possible by the flexibility of her teaching style that earned her the Killam Prize.
Three UBCers recently found out that they did not made it to the next phase of the Canadian Space Agency’s search for potential astronauts. We had the chance to follow up with the candidates after the release of the latest shortlist.
This “takeover” was part of a larger three-day event — four days for Indigenous delegates — called the “Daughters of the Vote,” created by Equal Voice Canada, which advocates for increased female representation and involvement in Canadian politics.
“The database has existed for many years before, but hadn’t been professionally updated for quite a while — so we wanted to revisit refreshing it so that it can have a more common look and feel,” said Darran Fernandez.
In June 2016, for the fourth time in Canadian space history, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) launched a call for potential astronauts. Of those that applied, three UBC faculty/alumni were selected for the 72-person shortlist.
The north balcony of the fourth floor of the Nest should offer a good view of the moonrise. Anybody living on a high floor of one of Gage Towers, with a clear view northeast, will have a perfect perspective.
