Continuing a trend from the last fiscal quarter, AMS businesses continue to fall short of their financial targets. While the businesses are not collectively in a deficit, they have not been meeting their net contribution expectations as the AMS had expected.

This AMS election season, elections officials have opted for two “Chat & Chill” sessions — opportunities for candidates to engage with students in an informal and conversational way — partially replacing what were previously all-candidate debates.
Jacky Xue, a third-year business and computer science student, is running for UBC’s Board of Governors (BoG). With the province not increasing post-secondary funding in this years’ budget, Xue wants to tackle the university’s fiscal challenges while pushing for student services in a “targeted way.”

Council endorsed a referendum calling for cutting ties with Israeli universities that some say participate in apartheid against Palestinians. Now on the ballot during AMS elections, this endorsement comes after numerous students spoke in its favour.
