Dr. Margaret Moss, director of UBC’s First Nations House of Learning and a tenured faculty in the school of nursing and applied science, made Forbes’s inaugural 50 over 50 list last month.
The motions are a step towards uplifting the Black community, said Dr. Austin Uzama, the senator who proposed them.
The new measure mandates that all non-essential air travellers take a COVID-19 test upon arrival and reserve a room at a hotel for three nights awaiting their results. The measure would still be in effect regardless if the traveller’s mandated 72-hour pre-arrival test has turned out negative.
“This is pretty complicated. UBC considered this decision back in the summer, and even earlier this month,” a student senator said.
Since the group’s first meeting a week ago, the Disability Affinity Group is gaining traction.
Fourth-year students Alex Gonzalez and Kip Chow, along with a few other students from the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, have launched the faculty-sponsored Trans Mentorship Program.
With an unconfirmed initial budget of approximately $97,000, according to AMS VP Finance Lucia Liang, this marks the second consecutive cancellation of major AMS events, following the cancellation of Welcome Back BBQ, usually held in September.
However, residences have been open throughout the pandemic. When asked about the timing of the release, Ramsey said it “made more sense to release [the modules] at the start of the new school year."
