A UBC law professor has denied allegations that he played a role in the expense scandal involving Senator Mike Duffy.
CTV reported that UBC associate law professor Benjamin Perrin negotiated a deal for Nigel Wright to write a personal cheque to help Sen. Duffy pay back his expenses. Perrin issued a statement denying the allegations.
“Last night’s CTV story in relation to me, which is based on unattributed sources, is false,” said Perrin. “In all my work, I have been committed to making our country a better place and I hope my record of service speaks for itself.”
UBC spokesperson Randy Schmidt said Perrin’s actions off campus have no affect on his position at UBC.
“From our understanding, there is no relationship between what was happening there and his role at UBC,” said Schmidt.
