New Pit gets provisional occupancy

The new Pit pub got provisional occupancy this afternoon.

“This morning we had the Coastal Health inspector in at 10:30, who was the final sort of box that we needed to check off and make sure that everything was safe and in the clear… [which] gave us our second partial provisional occupancy for the Nest, which includes the Pit,” said Ava Nasiri, AMS VP Administration.

The Pit will be open for the first time tomorrow night at the AMS Nest Housewarming.

“In our planning of the Nest Housewarming, we were expecting to have the Pit open and available, and the only reason we hadn’t put that up on the event page just yet was because we wanted to make sure that we really could use the space,” said Nasiri. “So all of our programming for the celebrations happening tomorrow for the Nest housewarming, we planned so that it would be very easily transferrable to the Pit.”

Regarding the place the new Pit will take on campus, Nasiri said in a statement that “the Pit in the nest will be the new heart of student life on campus. It’s the perfect combination of the spirit of what was the Gallery Lounge and The Pit in the old SUB. The same programming we know and love will still carry on -- Karaoke Tuesdays, Pit night Wednesdays and all that jazz. And the prices are super student friendly also.”

The Pit will be open and running at full steam within the next few weeks, once the kitchen and bar staff have a chance to get accustomed to the new environment.
