The Ubyssey is a member of the Canadian University Press (CUP). CUP is a national, non-profit co-operative, owned and operated by more than 80 student newspapers from coast to coast. Founded in 1938, CUP is the oldest student newswire service in the world and the oldest national student organization in North America.

CUP organizes conferences across Canada, including one national conference held in a different city every year. It also organizes a public newswire service that picks pull content from all of its member papers.

CUP also organizes the John H. McDonald Student Journalism Awards, which rewards excellence in Canadian student journalism.
